2021 Garmin Products
Garmin is a worldwide brand and one of the market leaders when it comes to GPS devices in golf. In the golf industry, they are recently known for working closely with YouTube sensation Rick Shiels, who is a brand ambassador for Garmin.
Garmin has released two new GPS watches both at two different price points and individual features. The first of the new GPS watches is the Garmin Approach S42 GPS Golf Watch. It has a large 1.2” easy-to-read colour touchscreen display with a lightweight stylish feel. Quickly get key on course references to the front, middle and back of the green all whilst being able to manually drag and drop the pin location for greater accuracy. The S42 comes fully loaded with 42,000 CourseView maps of golf courses around the world as well as a digital scorecard to record your strokes.
To enhance your user experience wearing the watch, connect it to the Garmin Golf App for strokes gained analysis and to participate in leader boards and tournaments for further insight into your game.
As well as being a golf-specific device it also acts as a smart match, providing you with daily notifications such as activity tracking. Its stylish appearance means that it can also be used for everyday wear, making it multi-purpose, and adding value to your life. One main negative to this watch in comparison to the S62 and S12 is the battery life is 5 and 15 hours less respectively.
The second of the newest Garmin smartwatches is the S12. As mentioned above this has an increased battery life being it can be used over multiple rounds of golf. The S12 has a high resolution 1.3” monochrome display, which is one of its downfalls. The S12 does not track other sporting activities, so its only purpose is for the golf course. Which for many this would not be adequate they would require a multi-purpose watch for every-day life but at £90.00 less expensive this makes it extremely good value for money.
The newest Garmin product is the G12. This product is aimed at the golfer who does not want the burden of having a watch prohibit their swing while playing. Garmin has produced a product that has the appearance of a watch face, but clips onto the side of your belt or golf bag if you prefer.
This is a direct rival to the G30 and G80 which are range finders and launch monitors respectively. The G12 has a 30-hour battery life and a high-resolution sunlight-readable display. This is a great option for somebody who wants a cheaper alternative that has the same benefits as some of the smartwatches.
