Wilson Staff D9 Forged Irons
On the back of the success of the Wilson Staff D7 Forged, Wilson are releasing a brand new D9 Forged iron. Designed using a generative process that compares hundreds of Power Hole layouts, D9 Forged irons combine the nuanced feel of a forged head with higher launch angles, for incredible stopping power and pinpoint accuracy.
A brand-new asymmetrical Power Hole arrangement is optimized for forged heads and is biased towards the heel of the club, opening the face and increasing contact time with the ball for maximum speed and distance.
The D9 boasts a lower center of gravity which results in a higher launch, increased peak trajectory, and a steeper descent angle. That means more carry and greater stopping power. This is important for players seeking lower scores and wanting their shots to hold greens in order to have a putt for birdie.
The forged finish gives that premium touch along with an incredible feel off the clubface. It also features a thin topline and minimal offset give it that tour look. The D9 compared to its predecessor, the D7, has seen increased clubhead and ball speeds on testing, ensuring that you’re gaining extra yardage in all of the clubs.
One big factor in the golfing world is, how forgiving are they? Well, testing has proved that there is only a 2-3mph drop off on heel and toe strikes which is great because your irons will still reach great distances even if you miss strike the ball.
Who are these irons aimed at? If you are the player who is already using cavity-backed irons but seeking that improved feel then the D9 Forged could be the irons to move into. They don’t have a super small profile so they promote confidence at address which means that any under an 18 handicap would be suitable for these irons. Additionally, if you’re a high handicap golfer but strike your irons well then these would also be a great alternate to choose.
