Under Armour Spieth 5 SL Golf Shoes Review

Under Armour Spieth 5 SL Golf Shoes Review

The golf shoe is an integral part of anyone’s outfit, whether that’s fashion specific is up to you. But making sure your golf shoe enhances your performance is exactly what the Spieth 5 SL is designed to do.

This is the fifth iteration of Under Armour’s signature shoe designed in cohesion with the three-time major champion, Jordan Spieth and a leading biomechanist JJ Rivet. One of the main talking points of the 5 SL is the inclusion of the 4th dimension of traction called internal traction. This is a new 3D moulded footbed that has an additional wrap over the inside and of the foot. This wrap eliminates any excess space inside the shoe to create a fit unique to you. It goes without saying that the more ‘snug’ the fit of the shoe, the better connection you have with the ground, which is crucial in the golf swing.

The grip of the shoe is perhaps the most impressive part, you’ll swear you are wearing spiked shoes, but you aren’t. Under Armour's signature Rotational Resistance Traction™ powers your swing, giving the feeling of a spikeless shoe with the traction of a spiked sole. Their HOVR™ cushioning is soft and returns your energy, so long hours on the course won't kill your feet. The breathable Clarino® microfibre uppers have a lightweight waterproof membrane to keep you dry whatever the conditions.

The Spieth 5 SL could well be the most technologically advanced shoe ever produced, maximising performance through a better fit. The spikeless design only enhances the connection with the ground as there is less material creating a barrier between the two. You are likely to see Mr Spieth himself wearing this shoe on tour week in, week out and with a bit of luck hopefully turn that 3 (major count) to 4.
