The GORE-TEX membrane contains over 1,4 billion microscopic pores per square centimetre. These pores are 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, but 700 times larger than a water vapour molecule. This makes the GORE-TEX membrane completely waterproof from the outside, while allowing moisture to escape from the inside.

Bluesign® approved fabrics are traced along the manufacturing process, making improvements at every stage from factory floor to finished product. Manufacturers can have their production processes and composition of the components assessed based on the Bluesign® criteria to optimise sustainability. Assessed and sustainably produced components are designated as Bluesign® Approved.

Galvin Green is one of only a few major companies now using PFC Free Water Repellent Treatment on their garments. Perfluorinated Compounds (PFCs) have been linked to a number of health conditions and they can also last indefinitely in the environment and find their way into the animal food chain so the use of PFC Free Water Repellent Treatment on the fabric is much kinder to the environment.
